This week a member of SLT delivered a presentation on the mental health issues which can be associated with high achievers and our most able at the very top end. The presentation drew upon the idea that some pupils are told by their teachers that they should be getting top grades across the board and this puts pressure on the child to perform to these high standards all the time. Because the standards of this person are so high any under achievements or disappointments can cause anxiety or a feeling of perceived failure and frustration.
